Shakespeare's Worst

From its world premiere in 2017 at The Bristol Shakespeare Festival in the U.K., to its run as part of “Words Cubed” in 2018 at Utah Shakespeare Festival, and most recently at sold our shows at Capital Fringe Festival in DC in 2019,   Shakespeare's Worst is an original retelling of a Shakespeare classic, by Emmy award-winning The Simpsons writer Mike Reiss with The 30-Minute Shakespeare series author, performer and teaching artist Nick Newlin.

Somewhere in a small-town theatre, a group of actors are performing Two Gentlemen of Verona (arguably Shakespeare's worst play), but one of the cast members isn't happy.  His career is going nowhere, he's sick of the show, and he wants out.

Shakespeare’s Worst returns to Utah Shakespeare Festival for a full run from Aug 12 through October 9th 2020!

This 75-minute satire is perfect for theatres, colleges, fringe festivals, cabaret, competitions or any venue that craves hilarity! The five-person cast tears through a raucous adaptation of Two Gentlemen of Verona while a servant (Launce) jumps in and out of the action with sidesplitting results!

Educators and amateur groups: We also have a crisp and hilarious 35-minute version of Shakespeare's Worst perfect for competitions and festivals! Shakespeare's Worst is the perfect combination of Shakespeare's language and characters with a modern comic sensibility to enthrall audiences and challenge actors.
